The fact that you have 鎷?500 a month going in is immaterial, in fact it probably makes you look worse. It suggests that far from being skint and unable to pay your debts you have the money and simply decided not to pay, what do you think that say%26#039;s to potential creditors?

I am confused. Your trying to give a bank money and they are not taking it? You must not live in America. Get an account online in America with a Visa or Mastercard symbol.

In America it is called Chex Systems or Consumer Debit that tallies up bad checks that one has written, or bad accounts. Wherever you are they may have the same type of thing.... you need to find out the source and fix it, then go forward... Also, when you try many banks the more and more you do sends up red flags to other/future financial institutions...Do the research on your own information before going forward. good luck, Jack

Thats tough. Banks don%26#039;t want bad news and their stance is why should they take on people who have proven inability to manage their finances which is likely to cause them trouble and possible loss in the future?

A bad credit record can be removed if the debts are fully repaid. Have you done this? If you have, ask the bank which debt reference agency has provided the details and write to them to get the record put straight. If you haven%26#039;t, what do you expect?

What you are earning is not the sole reason for getting a debit card. The reason being is it is credit score so takes into consideration your time at your job, voters roll information, previous credit information and time at address. The reason it is so strict is that they are technically giving you credit as with a debit card automatically comes a cheque book and an automatic 鎷?00 shadow overdraft limit and 鎷?00 cheque guarantee so they are in effect giving you credit for 鎷?600 straight off as they have to honour any cheques up to 鎷?00 so if you have 25 cheques in the book thats 鎷?500 plus the 鎷?00 overdraft. So they have to know that you are worthy of that credit before they give you the debit card. I would say your best bet is keep that card with no charges or returns for 9 months then go back and ask the company for a debit card as you will gain a history with them. Also everytime you apply for one you are getting a search against you which will drag down your credit rating. (PS if you are bankrupt you will not get a debit card)

I read some people can get debit card only accounts in the UK. You might want to ask a major bank. Where you can get an account that issue debit cards for people with bad credit. You might be able to find the information at your public library. Try to find the one that will let you use a Visa debit. This way you can use it anywhere Visa is taken.
