try a broker, however they sometimes charge around 鎷?0 for finding you a suitable loan,but saves you from all the run around,i wouldnt normally recommend this, but if you dont know where to get a loan from ,and your credit rate ain%26#039;t good, a broker can usually sort out a suitable loan, just beware of high interest rates howeverand watch out for any fees such has arrangement fees etc, that a lot of lenders can charge.

You need to re-assess your needs, if you have a poor rating it%26#039;s because you borrowed in the past and for whatever reason failed to repay. I make no judgement as I have been there, fortunately I was able to get out before my rating suffered.

Whatever you do don%26#039;t use the local money lenders, their rates are extortionate and their collection methods unpleasant but effective. Provident is probably the second worst thing you could do, their rates are incredibly high and they prey on those in financial need.

It very much depends what the money is for but if you have a bank account they may be able to help in some form.

If you need to borrow to repay money already borrowed and due back, talk to the lender, perhaps you can come up with a solution.

If for a holiday, stay at home.

Talk to your family, maybe they can help you.

Talk to the local citizens advice centre, they can put you in touch with a debt councellor

This isn%26#039;t a problem at all. Advantage Loans (www.advantageloansuk.co.uk) provide finance especially for those with bad credit. The loans are unsecured, so none of your assets are fixed to it. You can apply online. They were pretty quick for me in the past.

I notice the comment about Advantage Loans.

Be aware that they are not a Loan company, they are brokers and along with their sister company CGS they will charge you a 鎷?9 fee to get you a %26#039;Guaranteed%26#039; loan or in the case of CGS, a Credit Card, problem is they only find lenders who are prepared to offer way below what you need AND require a guarantor.

Both companies are part of Post Net which was known up until 23rd June 2004 as Poster Net Limited and before that were known as Zakino Limited (changed to Poster Net on 16th June 1998). CGS (Credit Gain Services), sister company of Advantage Loans were also reprimanded by the Advertising Standards Authority for misleading people into parting with a 鎷?4 fee on the promise of repairing bad credit records or getting them a credit card, this was in November 2001.

The only thing that has changed since then is the fee, it has come down from 鎷?4 to 鎷?9.

The promises (misleading promises) are still the same.

A complaint about their current practices has been forwarded to the Office of Fair Trading and the Advertising Standards Authority and they are currently being investigated.

Incidentally 3 people I spoke to at Advantage Loans assured me that they were registered with the FSA, when I pushed them for their registration number they then changed their story and said that as brokers they didn%26#039;t need to be registered, a complaint has also been registered with the FSA.

Do not touch either of these companies, I have lost 鎷?9 to Advantage, and have been contacted twice by CGS with the same promise, so far Advantage have put me through a lender who would only offer 20% of what I needed (with a guarantor!) and 4 letters telling me to go to the websites of: Beneficial Finance, Egg, Wellcome Finance and Paragon.

And I paid them 鎷?9 so they could tell me that!

I must have had a really off day on that day...
