Is it true the medical insurance premiums will be figured according to your credit rating?

No health carriers I know of use credit scoring for rating purposes. It%26#039;s really only a property/casualty thing.

It%26#039;s possible...but actually I believe it is the converse. your credit rating can be affected by your medical records.

Insurance companies have, for some inexplicable reason, begun to include credit ratings into their premium calculations. I have heard it done with car insurance (apparently bad credit risks are also bad drivers) - but I%26#039;m not sure how it is applied to health insurance.

And yes, it%26#039;s perfectly legal for them to do this - you%26#039;ll just have to find one that doesn%26#039;t. It%26#039;s called competition.

Health and life insurance is not currently rated according to your credit but auto and home/renter%26#039;s insurance is for most if not all companies.

Medical insurance is rated by your age, gender, geographical area, height and weight, current and past medical problems and whether or not you smoke.
